Candid.LensTHE STREET, UNPOSED.

THE MISSION

About Candid.Lens

Candid.Lens is one photographer and one camera, out walking. The work is not about the person holding the camera. It is about the people in front of it, and the streets that hold them.

Most of these pictures were taken a few steps from the ordinary: on the way to yeshiva, at the market, waiting for a bus, in the last light before Shabbos. Nothing staged, nobody asked to pose. Just everyday scenes of frum Jewish life, the kind that pass by while everyone is busy living them.

Those scenes are easy to overlook. Look again, and they are full of color, humor, devotion, and depth. That is the mission of this page: to stop and look twice at the beauty that was there the whole time.

There is no shortage of negativity out there about Jews and Jewish life. These photographs are a small, quiet answer - not an argument, just evidence of how much beauty one ordinary street can carry.

If you appear in a photograph and would like it taken down, just ask. Email candidlens2@gmail.com and it will be removed, no questions asked.
